Mixed Nuts is the very first mixed chorus in The Netherlands. Set up in November 2022, the daring decision was made – after only six rehearsals – to compete during the Holland Harmony convention in March 2023. Being ‘nuts’, the chorus came, saw and conquered. With the highest score ever in Dutch barbershop history, Mixed Nuts won the contest with 84.3% ánd received the audience award.
Mixed Nuts is the realization of a dream of MD’s Stuart Sides and Katy Taylor. This duo had the ideal to start a mixed barbershop chorus where everyone is welcome. Eighteen months later, the chorus has some fifty members from all over the Netherlands, Germany and Ireland. Rehearsals are on the first Saturday of the month.
Preparations for the BHS convention started right after the Dutch convention, with highlights such as the IABS convention in Killarney, Ireland (October 2023), the Show of Champions in Dordrecht (May) and a fundraising show in Zaltbommel (June). And our expectations for Cleveland? To have a great time on stage and leave a lasting impression!
